French Finance Minister Warns Firing Jerome Powell May Harm Dollar

French Finance Minister Eric Lombard warned that firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell would weaken the dollar and disrupt the US economy. Lombard stated that Trump’s aggressive tariff moves have already hurt the credibility of the dollar, and removing Powell would further damage this credibility. He added that higher borrowing costs and a profound disorganization of the country’s economy could follow, forcing Washington to seek talks to calm tensions.
